J.J. Redick: The Magic Man

Not many people have heard of JJ Redick. That's mostly because he hasn't been playing a lot of minutes for the Orlando Magic. Only recently has he been given the opportunity to showcase his talents. He was an All-American in high school and scored 43 points in the Finals of the Virginia State Championship. He was then recruited by the Duke Blue Devils. At the college level, he was known for his outstanding shooting ability and perfect shooting form. As soon as he released the ball, you knew it was going in. The only way to stop him from scoring is to prevent him from getting the ball. Now in the NBA, he was initially a bench-warmer due to his lack of defense and natural athleticism. But now Jeff van Gundy has realized his potential and has awarded him more playing time which has resulted in an exponential increase in his points tally. Watching him shoot is like magic. I guess it is only fitting that the Orlando Magic drafted him back in 2006, for the namesake of the magic he portrays in his shot. He is truly a phenomenon, not only in terms of basketball, but also his determination and work ethic. In college, he was often taunted by opposition fans. They threatened him, made hate calls, made anti-Redick T-shirts, etc. But he shut them up through his play on the court. That's what really counts. What you do on the court. He is a true baller.
